Emerald Sea Downwind

We organize one-day downwind trips in the Emerald Sea for experienced kitesurfers. Indeed, the conditions of launching and riding are more technical than in Sakalava Bay, so beginners will not be able to participate in the Downwind.

Nevertheless, the kitesurfers who do not have the level as well as the uninitiated will be able to join the outing. The boat ride to cross the lagoon and the day spent on the Suarez islet are the musts of the region and it would be a pity to leave Madagascar without having seen this treasure that is the Emerald Sea.

In the program, departure with 4WD from Madakitecamp around 7:30 am to reach the village of Ramena where the boat will be waiting for us at 8 am. Then, count about 45 minutes of crossing the lagoon by sail to reach the Suarez islet which will be the base camp for the day. Ride in the lagoon and in the waves of the Emerald Sea for confirmed kitesurfers. Relaxation, massage and snorkeling for the others…

2 Downwind will be offered to you to choose from. The first one consists in setting the kitesurfing equipment at the entrance of the lagoon for the crossing to the Suarez islet while escorting the boat. The ride is about 5 km long. Then, kitesurfing for the day on the islet and on the reef waves for those who have the level. Lunch will be served in a straw hut in the shade of coconut trees. On the menu, fresh fish caught in the lagoon, crab and seafood…

For the second Downwind, the departure is exactly the same as the first one, but instead of joining the Suarez islet we take the direction of the pool spot in the north of the lagoon. Count about 10 kms to reach Nosy Antalibe (the swimming pool). Ride on the spot of the pool all the morning then return to Suarez island for lunch.

The bravest will be able to go upwind and the others will be able to join the islet with the boat. To go upwind to the base camp a good physical condition is required as well as a good upwind technique. Riding takes about 1 hour to reach the Suarez island.

Andovokonko Bay Upwind

Like the Downwind in the Emerald Sea, the Upwind trip to Andovokonko Bay requires a good level of kiting. An upwind from Madakitecamp for about 45 minutes. Part of the ride is done in open sea before reaching Andovokonko lagoon located 3 Km south of Sakalava Bay.

On the spot program there is very good flat to ride, but also some small reef waves. A surprise will be reserved for you. Discovery of a secret spot south of the main bay with dream beach and super flat for freestyle ! The Kitetrip in Andovokonko bay lasts about 2 hours.
